Our Services

Energy and low carbon design advice to make new buildings perform better

Sustainability is said to be achieved in the first 10% of the design process – getting the building massing, orientation, internal planning, façade and site fit right can make a huge difference to the cost and effectiveness of achieving a sustainable design. Further down the line, advice on aspects such as materials, renewable energy, window design, insulation and energy modelling can help achieve energy and sustainability targets.

Ecoteric offers design advice on all these issues along with energy modelling where required.

Energy audits and solutions advice to reduce carbon footprints

For organisations concerned with the cost of energy and the carbon footprint of their organisation, Ecoteric undertake building, site and organisational audits to pinpoint avoidable waste and suggest solutions.

These services are delivered as a Carbon Trust registered consultant and also as a stand alone service where Carbon Trust funding is not being applied for.

BREEAM assessments

See BREEAM page for more details.

Whole site energy and sustainability advice

This service looks at whole sites, either before construction, in the course of development or in occupation and concentrates on the opportunities for whole site solutions such as CHP, infrastructure, transport and ecology. Ecoteric undertake energy work in house and work with partners to deliver ecology, transport and civil engineering and social sustainability solutions.

EPCs/Part L2 compliance advice and certification

Energy performance certification is being implemented from April 2007 for existing buildings - for more information see:

http://www.communities.gov.uk/

Ecoteric offer non domestic energy assessments.

For new buildings, where Ecoteric are involved either as energy/low carbon design advisors or BREEAM assessors, we offer Part L2 compliance advice, calculations and reports suitable for Building Regulation submission. Ecoteric are CIBSE Low Carbon Consultants.

PROJECTS

South West College

South West College 1

South West College 2

The South West College development in Enniskillen is a major redevelopment on two sites to create new skills and sports centres.

The skills centre comprises teaching and training facilities for a variety of practical trades including plumbing, electrical and motor trades and features a biomass boiler. The sports centre provides a central sports and sports teaching facility for the college in a sustainable building.

BREEAM assessments are being carried out for each building using the BREEAM bespoke scheme and Susan Logan has been working closely with the design team to steer the design to a sustainable outcome.
