Karen Elliott, associate director at Ecoteric, was appointed as the BREEAM assessor for this new primary school in Kidderminster.
The project was the winner of the RIBA Architecture WM Award 2013.
The building design creates a light and airy interior, making the most of the natural daylight. The natural materials specified have a high Green Guide rating. The roof also has a large area of green roof, helping the site ecology.
Throughout construction, the existing school was running and continued to provide a home to badgers. This was all used an education opportunity for the school, including the pupils in the build process and creating a new badger sett.
